The Order of the Orishas

The Order of the Orishas, also known as La Regla de Ocha, is a sacred coven devoted to preserving and advancing the rich spiritual traditions of Santería. Rooted in centuries of wisdom and reverence for the Orishas—deities who guide and protect us—we are a dedicated group of thirteen santeras and santeros, united in purpose and faith.

Under the unwavering leadership of High Priest Raphael, we devote ourselves to the tireless work of nurturing our coven and training its members. This sacred duty demands more than skill; it requires endurance, humility, and an unyielding commitment to the spiritual path. Though the work can often be thankless, it is through this labor that we strengthen our bond with the Orishas and with one another.

Our Council

High Priest Raphael: 48 years of experience. Raphael is the esteemed Obá Oriaté of the Order of the Orishas. With over four decades of experience, he is a master of all Santería rituals and ceremonies. Known for his wisdom and calm demeanor, Raphael officiates initiations, leads community events, and provides cowrie shell readings. He is deeply committed to preserving Santería traditions and serves as a guide for the entire coven, ensuring that all spiritual practices are performed with precision and respect.
Babalawo Ernesto: 42 years of experience. Ernesto is a wise Babalawo consecrated to Orunmila. Known for his exceptional skill in divination, he provides Ifá readings and guidance to the community. Ernesto also conducts sacrificial and cleansing ceremonies, ensuring that all spiritual work aligns with the will of the Orishas. His reputation as a skilled and compassionate diviner has made him a trusted advisor for High Priest Raphael.
Oyugbona Valeria: 36 years of experience. Valeria is a watchful and protective Oyugbona, meaning “eyes on the road.” She serves as a second godparent for new initiates, offering guidance and spiritual support. Valeria is skilled in divination and assists High Priest Raphael during ceremonies, ensuring everything runs smoothly. She is known for her meticulous attention to detail and her deep connection to the Orisha Oshun.
Padrino Miguel: 32 years of experience. Miguel is a devoted godfather who has initiated numerous Aleyos into the faith. As a Padrino, he is known for his patience and ability to teach complex spiritual concepts with clarity. His specialties include crafting protective talismans and performing cleansing ceremonies. Miguel often acts as a mentor to younger members, helping them navigate their spiritual journeys.
Madrina Isabella: 28 years of experience. Isabella is a nurturing Madrina who takes great pride in guiding new initiates through the first steps of their spiritual paths. Her warm presence makes her a beloved figure in the coven. She specializes in preparing offerings and ensuring the spiritual purity of ceremonial spaces. Isabella is also known for her ability to connect deeply with the Orisha Yemayá, whose wisdom she shares with her godchildren.
Santera Camila: 24 years of experience. Camila is a skilled Santera crowned with the Orisha Oshun, embodying the Orisha’s creativity and love for beauty. She specializes in crafting ceremonial garments, jewelry, and tools, infusing each piece with spiritual intent and artistic flair. Camila is also known for her talent in divination, using cowrie shells to provide profound insights to those seeking guidance. Her vibrant energy and artistic contributions make her an integral part of the coven, and her deep connection to Oshun inspires others to embrace joy and self-expression in their spiritual practice.
Santera Marisol: 21 years of experience. Marisol is a dedicated Santera who was crowned with the Orisha Changó. She is a vibrant and passionate member of the coven, often leading drumming rituals and dances that celebrate the Orishas. Marisol's energy and enthusiasm inspire those around her, and she is always willing to share her knowledge of herbal remedies and spiritual protection.
Santero Diego: 18 years of experience. Diego is a steadfast Santero crowned with the Orisha Ogun. His expertise lies in crafting tools and objects for rituals, including Orisha altars and offerings. Diego’s practical approach to spirituality makes him a valuable asset to the coven. He often collaborates with Padrino Miguel to teach younger members about the warrior Orishas and their significance.
Santera Lucia: 16 years of experience. Lucia is a compassionate Santera crowned with the Orisha Obatalá. Known for her soothing presence, she specializes in spiritual healing, using prayers, herbal baths, and rituals to bring peace and clarity to those in need. Lucia is deeply respected for her ability to mediate conflicts within the coven and her wisdom in matters of forgiveness and patience. Her devotion to Obatalá inspires her to guide others in achieving harmony and balance in their spiritual lives.
Santero Javier: 14 years of experience. Javier is a charismatic Santero crowned with the Orisha Eleguá. He is a gifted storyteller and a keeper of oral traditions, passing down Santería's sacred myths and teachings through captivating narratives. Javier's deep connection to Eleguá, the opener of paths, makes him a natural guide for initiates as they embark on their spiritual journeys. His humor and lightheartedness bring joy to the coven, while his wisdom ensures that the ancient traditions remain alive and vibrant.
Iyawo Ana: 12 years of experience. Ana is a dedicated Iyawo in her first year of initiation, bringing over a decade of experience in spell casting to our coven. As a devotee of the Orisha Yemayá, she is currently observing her year of wearing white and adhering to strict behavioral guidelines. Ana’s humility and eagerness to learn have made her a promising addition to the coven. She often assists Madrina Isabella in preparing offerings and maintaining the sacred spaces.
Aborisha Mateo: 10 years of experience. Mateo is an Aborisha who is gaining experience and building his connection with the Orishas. Under the mentorship of Padrino Miguel, he is learning the basics of offerings, prayers, and divination. Mateo has shown a strong affinity for the Orisha Eleguá and is often called upon to help with opening and closing ceremonies.
Aleyo Sofia: 8 years of experience. Sofia is an Aleyo, someone exploring Santería and learning its practices from the periphery. She regularly attends ceremonies and seeks guidance from Valeria and Isabella. Although she has not yet undergone initiation, Sofia shows a deep respect for the Orishas and is eager to deepen her understanding of the religion.
